Mailercloud's email address verifier checks each address against live mail servers via SMTP — not just DNS lookups. Deliverable results are highly reliable. Catch-all domains may show as Risky because their servers accept all addresses without confirming individual mailboxes exist.
Does email verification send an email to the address?
No. Mailercloud communicates with the recipient's mail server to check whether the mailbox exists, but no email is ever delivered to the address. Your contacts will never know they were verified.
How long does bulk email verification take?
Lists under 1,000 emails typically complete within minutes. Larger files take longer as each address requires a real-time check against live mail servers. Processing runs in the background — you can navigate away and return to check progress on the Lists page.
Do email verification credits expire?
One-time purchase credits never expire — buy once and use whenever you need. Subscription credits (monthly or yearly plans) renew each billing cycle. When you hold multiple active balances, your oldest credits are used first.

What is the difference between Deliverable, Invalid, and Risky emails?
Deliverable emails are safe to send — the mailbox exists and the server is reachable. Invalid emails include non-existent mailboxes, dead servers, syntax errors, and detected typos — remove these immediately. Risky emails include catch-all domains, disposable inboxes, role-based addresses (info@, admin@), and potential spam traps — review these carefully before sending.
